Introducing the Circular Business Action Canvas
I’m thrilled to share a new tool I’ve been working on: the Circular Business Action Canvas! In my journey of introducing circular and zero-waste business development to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), I’ve often encountered a common challenge. Many businesses, eager to make a positive change, struggle with confusion and lack of information about practical alternatives how to implement their first circular measures in their business. They often end up choosing the first idea that comes to mind, which may not always be the most ambitious or effective. At this critical moment, when businesses start to think about transforming their operations, there’s immense potential!
To address this, I’ve compiled a comprehensive list of actionable steps that SMEs can take to transition into the circular economy. The purpose of this list is to save time and jump-start the process for businesses by providing an organised overview of potential actions.
I encourage you to use this canvas (and perhaps even create your own list!) and share your experiences with me. What worked well? What could be improved? What did I miss? Your feedback is invaluable!

About the Circular Business Action Canvas:
The canvas organises actions based on key circular economy principles: Refuse 🚫, Reduce ➖, Rethink 🤔, Redesign ✏️, Re-earth (Compost) 🌿, Reuse 🔄, Repair 🔧, Refurbish 🛠️, Remanufacture 🏭, Repurpose 🪑, Recycle ♻️, and Recover ❌. Implementing these actions can significantly reduce waste, conserve resources, and foster sustainable business models. While the list is not exhaustive, it serves as a quick and effective brainstorming and selection tool for businesses committed to sustainability.
Let me know how you’re going!
